Concluding Opinion
The issue on women's economic rights has not only occurred in the past but it is also occurring in the present as well. It is highly controversial whether or not this problem has actually been solved or not. Although we've come a long way from the 1800s, there is still a large gender gap in our society today. The majority of the highest earning people is almost entirely composed of males, with the exception of a few females but that is still very problematic. Women are only earning about 71% of a man's salary, which is a huge difference in wages and unlike men, women are still struggling in the work force. It's not as easy for women to find a job, to get equal pay for the same work they do as men and to get promoted to higher job positions. Aside from that, the government is also taking away specific programs and services, like child care, which are essential to help women rise in the work force.
A similar social problem could be prevented by:
1. Men could spend an equal amount of time taking care of his children;
2. There could be more post-secondary programs available to reach out to women in mostly male-dominated fields such as engineering;
3. Raise awareness to show society how big of an issue it still is, perhaps through lobbying groups;
4. Government programs dedicated to helping women find the jobs they deserve;
5. More funding from the government towards certain programs like child care.
